Can an atheist be saved?

According to the New Testament, if one admits that he is a sinner, repents of sin, believes that Jesus is God's Son and died for his sins, then he's saved. He has eternal life.

What about those people, who "received salvation" that are now atheists? These people no longer believe that Jesus is the Son of God (some don't even believe he was a real person who ever existed). In fact, they no longer believe in God or the Holy Spirit. Is this person still saved?

If your answer is "no, the person is no longer saved," then what is your understanding of eternal life? Either salvation is eternal, or it is not (...it is eternal according to the New Testament).

If your answer is "yes, the person is still saved," then consider Mat 10:33 ("But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. ") and
Mar 3:29 ("But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: ") Essentially, speaking against Jesus (as in: "Jesus is not the Son of God") or speaking against the Holy Spirit (as in: "the Holy Spirit does not exist") is an unpardonable sin.
